Movies to Watch During the Holidays

Find some classic films you could be cozying up to see this season

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, and there’s no better way to spend it than snuggled up on the couch with a steaming mug of hot chocolate watching your favourite festive movies, right? The hardest part lies in deciding which movie to watch, since there are so many out there and not enough hours to watch them. But, then there are those movies that you just have to watch because… it’s tradition!

Home Alone (1990)

This one is a festive favourite for the whole family, and there are five movies altogether so that’s plenty of laughter and hot chocolate to get you through Christmas and the New Year.

Elf (2003)

Another one that will keep the whole family entertained. This is one of those movies that everyone has watched, so you’re doing something wrong if you haven’t.

The Snowman (1982)

This one brings back plenty of childhood memories. There’s even a sequel – The Snowman and The Snowdog (2012).

A Christmas Carol

This popular Dickens novel has been adapted in so many different ways, watching them all will not only get you through this Christmas, but will probably take you to the next as well!

Arthur Christmas (2011)

An animated tale of Christmas that’s entertaining for both adults and children alike.

Tangled (2010)

My favourite Disney movie! This one isn’t about Christmas, but it comes on television every year that it’s now become part of my Christmas. If you fancy something more wintery though, how about Frozen or Rise of the Guardians?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2011)

Another non-Christmas movie that just demands to be seen, because Christmas at Hogwarts is just magical. And… there’s eight movies! The festive season just isn’t complete in my house without a Harry Potter marathon.

What are your favourite Christmas movies? Are there any that have become part of your Christmas tradition but aren’t actually about Christmas?
