 How to do dialogue correctly

Do it correctly

This is how its done

Dialogue is a hard concept to follow, but it's actually easy once you learn how to do it. Dialogue is one of the biggest mistakes I see in books on movellas. They are very good books, but the dialogue always makes me cringe. Dialogue cannot be in one paragraph is two or more people are talking.

"John, I miss you." Markus said. "I miss you too." John replied." Tears rolled down his face as he said those words. For his friend was leaving and he would be alone.

That is wrong, and do you know why? You have to make a new paragraph when another person talks. This is how it should look.

"John, I miss you," Markus said.

"I miss you too," John replied. Tears rolled down his face as he said these words. For his friend was leaving, and he would be alone.

If you still don't get it, here are the steps to a grear dialogue.

1. Quotation marks ("")

2. Capalize first word.

3. Make a new paragraph when another person speaks.

Also periods and other punctuation go inside the quotation marks. example: "I hate you".

That is incorrect the correct way is "I hate you."

Also when using phrases like "I said" or "He said" or "she said" the period turns into a apostrophe. example: "I hate you." he said.

That is wrong. It is written like: "I hate you," he said.

If you follow those rules then you'll have a successful dialogue.
