Our NaNoWriMo Winner

At last! Read more about our NaNoWriMo winner and another worthy mention :-)

This was a great competition by Arnold Busck and Movellas - thanks to all those who participated in writing up a storm! The competition celebrated one of the more intense, exhilirating challenges a writer could face - NaNoWriMo (also known as National Novel Writing Month). All you had to do was write 50,000 words in 30 days, so that's only like 1667 words a day...it was no big deal, right? Well we know just how ambitious an endeavor this was in typing up rough drafts of your own short novels. Many participants spent the month of October planning and outlining, but others jumped right in and started writing!

After reading through so many amazing stories, it was hard to pick one overall winner when so many of you worked hard to produce your own movellas as part of this competition. However, there was one author who stood out. In a deep, perplexing story, this writer took us to a society with different rules but spookily similar values and herione who defies the judgements that are supposed to define her. A thrilling read, this movella captured our imaginations in an electrifying reminder of the power of words.

Our NaNoWriMo Winner for 2015 is...

Imprint by Molly Looby

"Lex lives in a society obsessed with words. From the day they're born their skin is covered in words, parts of themselves. The good, the bad, and the ugly....But you can't hide everything. Your words determine your place in the world and they never lie. When Lex discovers her latest imprint she knows nothing is going to be the same again."

The prize: a writer's survival kit (!) with everything a novel writer could ever dream of. All supplies will come from Arnold Busck, one of the largest book retailers in Denmark.

Worthy Mention

An enjoyable read and technically a runner up in this competition was another great story by fictionbefourblood about order, obedience, and the will to be free from all of it.
