NaNoWriMo Prep Week
Are you ready yet?
NaNoWriMo. You might have heard its name before, in which case you’re quite probably trembling in fear. Or you might not know what I’m talking about, in which case you’re probably wondering why you’re the only one not dreading November or fleeing while you still have a chance. NaNoWriMo, for those of you blissfully unaware of this monster, is a challenge. A challenge for the brave, for the dedicated and the quite-possibly-crazy-and-masochistic. A challenge for writers – or perhaps its true purpose is simply todrive us all insane (or at least insaner than we ever were before). But I still haven’t told you exactly what this challenge is, have I?
NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month, in which writers all over the world race against the clock to see if they can write 50,000 words in November. (There is also a junior challenge, in which you set your own word count.) To sign up to this, just search up NaNoWriMo. The internet will be your guide, waving you along and laughing at you in a morbid sense of amusement. Yes, by the way. 50,000. In short: LOTS AND LOTS OF WORDS. But the great thing is, you don’t have to face this monster alone.
This week, you’ll be getting daily blogs in preparation for NaNoWriMo, providing you with awesome advice to help you through. One of the greatest things about Movellas is the community. Anybody who wants to go for this challenge will have the rest of Movellas cheering them on. We’ll be united in our pain. (Or we’ll be tearing out our hair because somebody else has written a crazy amount of words and they ABSOLUTELY MUST BE A ROBOT BECAUSE NOBODY CAN WRITE THAT FAST.) But the point is, we’re all in this together, so we might as well all try to get through.
Every day this week will bring you another blog of life-saving advice, so make sure you check out everything if you’re going to enter: you might find something you’ve never thought of before, and maybe that will be your saviour. Or maybe you’re already a writing ninja, and it will only help you towards your goal just that bit quicker, so you can be just that bit more annoying to everybody else when you’re racing ahead, and you can unite the others in their burning hatred, which really will just be jealousy at your skills. This is NaNoWriMo Prep Week, and we’re going to help you make it.
