After much anticipation, we give you the winners of the Poetry, Lyrics, and Songwriting competition
If you follow Movellas on Snapchat or Tumblr, you might have noticed we've had a rough time judging this competition. There were so many powerful entries that we were nearly rendered comatose at the thought of having to choose only a handful. Since it was such a close race, we thought we'd give a little insight into how the winners were chosen.
- The message - how universal/meaningful is the message and how clearly is it received?
- Poetic devices - both number of devices used and how they were used to communicate the message effectively
- Spelling/Grammar - little to no errors and if grammatical experimentation is done, it did not interfere with the message of the poem.
- Mood/Imagery - does the poem/song make the reader feel and visualize the message?
And now, we present to you the overall winner of the Poetry, Lyrics, and Songwriting competition who will receive a signed copy of David Levithan’s Hold Me Closer – Tiny Cooper’s story, featuring the script of the musical performed in Will Grayson, Will Grayson:
Identity by BitofAFangirl
Winner of the Poetry category
Glass Statuettes by Myla.Lastivka
Winner of the Song Lyrics category
Save your Silence by Alice♫
Winner of the Song category
A Better Time by May Hayashi
A big congratulations to all the category winners who will each get a book bundle to call their own. Thank you to everyone who submitted. You are all extraordinarily talented!
We'd also like to give a special shout out to Giraffic Park by Sam H. It was by far the most polished song entered and pretty darn catchy, but when it came down to it, we went with a song that had a more universal and uplifting message.
All winners will be contacted by email.
