Pros and Cons of the Snowflake Method

@Sanguine gives us the pros and cons of the snowflake method

PRO: You know what is going to happen in your story before you have even finished the ten steps, so you can immediately spot any loose ends or plot holes.

CON: You know what is going to happen in your story before you have even finished the ten steps, so you can quite possibly get bored with the story.

PRO: You can do all of the thinking at the start of the story before you have even written anything which makes the writing process much quicker.

CON: You can do all of the thinking at the start of the story before you have even written anything which can make the writing process seem pointless since you have already run through the entire story in your head.

PRO: You get to have all of your creativity down on paper at once, which is great so you don’t forget anything.

CON: You get to have all of your creativity down on paper at once, which can drain the element of surprise out of your writing for you.

PRO: You get to have a lot of fun analysing your characters and plot so you have a firm idea for your story.

CON: You get to have a lot of fun analysing your characters and plot, but eventually you start doing this only to stall the actual writing of the story.

PRO: You get to know your characters really well, which means they become more realistic to you and your readers.

CON: You get to know your characters really well, which means they might cause your plot to crash and burn, because they start dictating its direction, regardless of your plans.
