Try a comic or graphic novel

 

By entering the Project Remix competition you could win the Project Remix prize, which will be awarded at an award ceremony in London with Malorie Blackman and will include professional one on one feedback from a professional in your chosen category. Choose your extract.

 

The comic category is alot of work, but can showcase your storytelling ability in a new and different way. A graphic novel will always stand out from the crowd. 

 

To Enter

Comic strip: create your own comic strip inspired by your chosen book, story or poem. Limit: up to three A4 pages.

 

Create each page of your comic as a jpg and save it to your computer. When you make your story on Movellas use the 'Add Image' button and upload each jpg in sequence.

To help you create your own comic strip inspired by your chosen text, take a look at some of these examples of graphic novels that retell or put their own spin on well-known classic books:

  • Romeo and Juliet by Sonia Leong and Richard Appignanesi, a Manga-style  retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and the other books in the Manga Shakespeare series
  • The Hound of the Baskervilles by Ian Edginton and I N J Culbard, a retelling of Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles
  • A Wrinkle in Time by Hope Larson, retelling Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time
  • Pride and Prejudice by Ian Edginton and Robert Deas, retelling Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice
