"Did You Miss Me?"
Sherlock season three left us hanging- a cryptic message seemingly from a ‘dead’ Moriarty, the shooting of Magnussen, and a very pregnant Mary. It’s been months since the last episode, and Sherlockians all over the globe are on tenterhooks. What do we know about season four?
It will air in 2016.
There were rumours that a special of Sherlock would be released this Christmas, instead the BBC announced that a series of three episodes will begin filming this January. They are expected to be released in 2016.
However, according to the grapevine, a one off special episode of Sherlock may air before that.
There will be tragedy.
Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes) let this litle gem slip in an interview: “You can always expect tragedy as well as adventure, that’s just how it goes.” Cryptic as ever...
This didn’t happen in the books...
In the books by Arthur Conan Doyle, Mary Watson is a minor character. Her character dies at an unspecified time between ‘The Final Problem’ and ‘The Adventure of the Empty House.’
Will OUR Mary Watson die? Or is the fact that Mary took her name from a dead Mary representative of her death? Maybe? Please?
Steven Moffat (the Sherlock producer) recently mentioned:
“We have a plan to top [season three]. And I do think our plan is devastating. We’ve practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan … we’re probably more excited that we’ve ever been about Sherlock.”
There’s some hints!
'The Red-Headed League' is a cast favourite. It is one of the ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ short stories.
We can’t know for sure exactly what’s going to happen with Sherlock season four, but there will be tragedy, surprise, and a whole lot of excitement.
THE GAME IS NEVER OVER
