Happy days! JK Rowling IS writing three new Harry Potter related films!

Hooray! The author is writing the screenplays right now!

JK Rowling has confirmed that a textbook which appeared in the first Harry Potter film is getting a spin off movie of its own!

The fictitious textbook used at Hogwarts, called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, will appear in three films penned by the 48-year-old writer. They are likely to include the textbook's author, magizoologist, Newt Scamande.

The films will take place in New York City, about seven decades before Harry and his pals, Hermione and Ron enter Hogwarts. JK reveals that the project moved quickly when new Warner Brothers CEO Kevin Tsujihara got involved, “We had one dinner, a follow-up telephonec call, and then I got out the rough draft that I’d thought was going to be an interesting bit of memorabilia for my kids and started rewriting!”
