In celebration of the trailer competition we are running around the release of Hayley's newest book, 'What's Up With Jody Barton' (you can read an AWESOME extract on Movellas!), we thought it would be nice to have a little chat. Here's the lovely things she had to say.
I’m so excited to be a part of this great Movella experience. I’d have loved a website like this when I was a teenager. I’ve had a big look through it and it feels to me like a massive online writing gang where anyone who loves writing can post up their creations and receive helpful and supportive feedback from other young writers anywhere in the world. And I especially like the idea of coupling the writing with the film trailers. What a brilliant idea! When I read a book, I often have a mini film playing in my head and I love the idea of readers creating trailers to capture the essence of the books they’ve read and enjoyed.
My latest book, What’s Up with Jody Barton? is a story about 15 year old twins. Actually, they’re very nearly sixteen. Or sort of. Because Jolene Barton was born a few minutes before midnight on the 28th of February and Jody Barton was born a few minutes after midnight on the 29th of February. So birthdays in this book are a bit complicated. And it just so happens that other things start to get a bit complicated too. Especially when Jolene and Jody fall in love with the exact same boy. I can’t tell you much more than that. Because that would give too much away.
And like I just said – it’s very very complicated.
But in short, this book is about family and falling in love and living in London and learning to be happy about who you are.
Hopefully it will get your heads buzzing.
